Weather Events

A storm rolled through on the evening of June 20th, 2001. The weather forecast indicated that we might get golfball sized hail. In the end it was a brief thunderstorm.

The detail view of the above image shows the effect of long exposures at high temperatures -- you can see the dark noise on the CCD. I only got one other picture and that isn't much good.

The trees are blurry because of the wind and the fact that both of these pictures were 8 second exposures.

Technical notes: the images were made using a Nikon Coolpix 990 and cropped down. The zoom was as wide as possible to capture as much of the sky as possible.
